Ian White’s next PDC darts win is just around corner

Posted on 16.04.2014 by Majesty Posted in News
Ian White

Ian White believes his next PDC tournament victory is just around the corner as he bids to avenge Players Championship frustration at the German Masters.

Diamond is one of four UK Sports Management stars heading to Berlin for the third European Tour event of 2014.

The world number 17 jets east on the back of a final appearance in Sunday’s latest Pro Tour round, where he missed a string of match darts before falling 6-5 to Betway Premier League ace Robert Thornton.

However, Tom Morrow Tarpaulins-backed White is ready to banish those bad memories by bouncing back in style…

Red Dragon Darts player White will go up against UKSM stable-mates Justin Pipe and Kevin Painter when one of last year’s most popular events returns in December.

Co-ordinated by the firm aiming to become the preferred darts management company, Apocalypse 2014 pits the trio against Betway Premier League ace Gary Anderson, Terry Jenkins and Steve Beaton, as well as fans’ favourites Keith Deller, Eric Bristow, Wayne Mardle and John Lowe.

Taking place at the Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre on Saturday 6 December and hosted by PDC MC Russ Bray, tickets are available from our ticket shop.

Jamie Caven: Get to know the man behind the darts

Posted on 15.04.2014 by Majesty Posted in News
Jamie Craven

Jamie Caven became the latest PDC star to join forces with UK Sports Management when he teamed up with the leading darts firm yesterday.

The CP Cases Scotland and Mr Tax-backed player is hungry to improve on his current world ranking and wants to climb at least seven places from 23rd to the Order of Merit’s top 16.

Although already an established player on the professional circuit and a fans’ favourite, we sat down with Jabba to find exactly who was the man behind the oche…

Name: Jamie Caven.

Age: 38.

Hometown: Derby.

World ranking: 23.

Career best achievement: I would say all seven of my Pro Tour wins, but the biggest were the back-to-back victories in a weekend at Wigan last year. Only ten players in PDC history have achieved that.

Walk-on music: Tom Hark by The Piranhas.

Darts used: 23g Unicorn Jamie Caven.

Favourite double: Double top.

Aim for 2014: I want to break into the world’s top 16 by the end of the year.

If I wasn’t a professional darts player, I would be: My previous job before I turned professional was an office administrator. I didn’t really have a trade, like some people are builders or carpenters. If I wasn’t in darts I would be working somewhere along the same lines in an office-type job.

My inspiration to play darts: Professionally, it was Eric Bristow. Everybody loves Eric and he was my idol when I was growing up. My Dad played as well and I loved watching and playing with him.

Favourite sport and hobby: Football, I’m a Liverpool fan. Hopefully we can end 24 years of hurt and win the Premier League this season.

Favourite food: Italian.

Favourite music: I like loads of different music, but I would have to say my favourite band are Kasabian as they’re from Leicester, where I’m originally from.

Best friend on tour: I would have to say Colin Osborne as he doesn’t live too far away.

Match day routine: I run an academy so I go through the same routine the kids use. It’s good for your all-round game and is about scoring as many points as you can, so you can almost grade yourself.  It doesn’t matter if you’re amateur or professional, it’s useful.

Three things I would take to Room 101: Manchester United, tomatoes and airport queues.

PDC ace Jamie Caven has become the latest darts fans’ favourite to team up with UK Sports Management and has immediately targeted a place amongst the world’s top 16.

Jabba has joined major semi-finalist Justin Pipe, former Premier League star Kevin Painter, Ian White and Andrew Gilding at UKSM, one of the country’s leading companies that specialises in the management and promotion of professional darts players.

Caven – a practice partner of Painter and fellow Unicorn user – is currently ranked 23rd globally and said entering a new chapter of his career with UKSM can help him climb to the next level.

“I’ve been a professional for seven years now so I’m looking to make that next step,” said Caven, who is backed by CP Cases Scotland and Mr Tax.

“The top 16 is my next big target and I think that the right people behind me – that I think I have now got – will be a massive help.”

Having seen at close quarters how UKSM had boosted Painter’s career, Caven added that the choice to join was an easy one.

He said: “Kevin seemed to be more relaxed in himself. I practice with him regularly and I saw a change and improvement in his game.

“It took him almost 20 years to win a major when he lifted the Players Championship Finals title and he has that same attitude now to when he was on the verge of victory.

“A lot of that is to do with the structure behind the scenes. When a lot of the financial pressure is taken off it helps in a big way.

“When UKSM showed interest and I met with them last week it was almost immediate that I was interested in signing.”

UKSM chief executive Paul Weller said: “We are delighted to be working with Jamie and he is an important addition to the team.

“UKSM is building an impressive team of world class players as we look to dominate the global darts stage.

“All five of our players are heading in the right direction and proving every week that they have the calibre, experience and ability to excel in the biggest tournaments. We cannot wait to help their development further.

Paul Weller added: “At UK Sports Management we have the professional experience and knowledge to structure credible and sustainable management support programmes, sponsorship opportunities and many other revenue generating opportunities to allow our sportsmen to benefit financially while allowing them to fully focus on their career development.”

Posted on 12.04.2014 by Majesty Posted in News
Andrew Goldfinger Gilding

While some of his PDC Pro Tour colleagues may have been making the most of a break from competitive action, Andrew Gilding has barely been away from the board.

UK Sports Management’s rising star joins stable mates Justin Pipe, Kevin Painter and Ian White in Wigan this weekend keen to maintain his stunning impact on the floor tournaments.

Instead of putting his feet up, Quantax-backed Goldfinger has been in county action for Suffolk as he aims to extend momentum established in a fine start to 2014.

Andrew told us about how he wants to continue his rankings climb in the North West…

JUSTIN PIPE IN ACTION

Striking a balance between practice and relaxation has left Justin Pipe hungry to show the fruits of his labour on the dart board this weekend.

Represented by leading darts specialists UK Sports Management, The Force heads to Wigan on Saturday for rounds five and six of the PDC Players Championship.

Having made the most of a fortnight break from competitive action, the Cosmo Darts player is raring to go when he takes to the oche on Saturday.

Pipe – sponsored by Rix Motors – gave us an insight into his approach to the weekend…

Quantax-backed Pipe will go up against UKSM stable-mates Ian White and Kevin Painter when one of last year’s most popular events returns in December.
